Wow, you're so great and generous.

Tell me something, if I just start playing GW, how do I make gold without leaving town?

Fair enough Algren, I dont know you from Adam. But the used car annalogy works for 90% of those people in the trading channel. I dont see how a weap upgrade trader is a problem....I mean we can go buy Skills can we not and that unlocks that skill.

You still have to go out and either buy or find that "cool" weapon to upgrade in the 1st place. People play the game in many forms, I doubt there is a one size fits all solution out there.

Well...

Runes, Insignia, Weapon Upgrades, Inscriptions... they are all the same.

Can be obtained by recycling loot, once recovered from llot you can identify them again to sell them for more gold if they are not good enough to be used or sold to other players...

It's not 'Every conceibable piece of equipment' but 'item upgrades, rare scrolls, materials and dye'

/signed for upgrades.

inscriptions would be nice too. makes me feel dirty selling some of them for a measly 25g.

i don't think perfect upgrades and inscriptions should be sold at vendors though. half the fun (at least for me) is trying to get one yourself out of a salvage, and it'd make perfects a dime a dozen, which they really shouldn't be.

Yup, armor and weapons are crafted from NPC and got as loot.
But you can't use other armor than yours, and weapons have no fixed values like runes, they can have 1..15 req, a lot f different damage combiantions...

But all runes and insignias have fixed values, and you can make inscriptions and upgrades have fixed values when bought in those NPC merchants for common, uncommon and rare.

You unlock them with Balthazar faction with Fixed values.

The comments (I won't say any specific names...) about an upgrade dealer "ruining the game"(!!!) and making it so that "none of [us] have to actually play the game to get what [we] want....[we] can just go buy it" (lord forbid!) really make me laugh. We'll never have to leave town again, traders will give us upgrades for free!!

But anyways, yeah, /sign to the upgrade trader. The best part would be that, like with the rune trader, I wouldn't have to farm/spam WTB ads forever for upgrades that aren't very popular, and thus are seldom available. Players could also use the trader as a reference for sales prices.

As for the weapon trader, exactly what are we talking here? A trader who simply vends every weapon type in the game, allowing gamers to buy whatever design of weapon they want, would be horrendous. That'd be like having universal armor craftsmen who allow you to buy whatever armor you want where ever you are, atleast in my mind. Part of the fun of getting a weapon is having to defeat the enemies that wield that wield that type of weapon, I think.

um...and, if you didn't know, we have weaponsmiths (or collectors, alternately) already. Upgradable/inscribable maxed out weapons of most varieties can be obtained from these already extant NPC's.
However, upgrading weaponsmiths so that they can craft differing styles of weapons sounds like a workable idea to me. This would perhaps even add a more natural feel to the weaponsmiths: to obtain a particular style of weapon, say a sickle, one would go to a Krytan weaponsmith, similar to going to Droknar's forge to obtain the armor design of the armorsmiths there. More common designs could be available at all weaponsmiths, like butterfly swords or long swords, and, of course, unique or very rare designs (like mursaat hammers or Victo's weapons' skins) would remain unavailable at craftsmen, or available at extremely high prices. I can't imagine this being too difficult to implement, either, as armorsmiths are already available. They wouldn't be adding any new features, they'd just be adding the additional weapon/shield designs, as well as perhaps a few more NPC's. Although my description is quite rough, I believe the idea is clear enough.

Also, see Making Weaponsmiths Useful. Although this suggestion is more geared towards making rare skins more easily available, it is rather close to the idea suggested above.

It really doesn't make any sense while weaponsmith in Nightfall crafted weapon without modifier and can not buy any upgrade from trader, it is a real pain to spam on the trade channel for modifiers every single time I need weapon upgrade/modifier plus bargaining with other sellers is not enjoyable in the game at all.

This is kind of a tricky thread, there are pros and cons to both sides.
Selling high end skins is something that should never happen. It would never be possible to set a price at a trader that actualy reflects the rarity of some items. Try to think about the odds of a req 9 crystaline sword with 15^50 droping and the price for it would never be useable on a trader.

As for upgrades were still pretty new into Nightfall and I would expect the inscriptions to start to drop in price soon. I found a 15^50 in my first week and a few +5 energy ones. Now there are still some hard to find ones that are less popular that may never come down in price or be easy to find somebody selling.

One thing everyone has seemed to over looked is that between collectors and weapon crafters you can find just about every possible combo in the game. Its not easy and may be over priced for some but then they give a player a reason to keep playing and earn more money/colletor items.

Most people want to buy mods to improve a rare skinned item and in my mind you really should have to work for that rather than just buy it.

Note : I recently built a 'Rago's Flame Wand' for my ele using a weapon crafter in nightfall and one mod I found one mod I purchased.

only problem I have with the rune trader, same with the materials, both of them. is before every new 'game' I have to spend like 50k at least to get some materials, runes (even from the older profs) and stash them up because during the new release its likely impossible to get a rune unless it costs 10k or more? Now dont bs me with suply and demand, because of the new professions runes should just be implanted before its final release is out. It would safe a lot of high prices for minor runes. I've seen people trying to rip off any new player in NF with selling a rune for 5k that now just costs a little as 800g.

A new NPC that crafts perfect weaponskins, mods... then you would need to look up the word rare... what fun would it be if EVERYBODY starts walking around with Fellblades with 15^50, Stormbows with 15^50... I don't go for all the trouble getting into a UW/FoW party or run chests with my friend for nothing... Rare skins and mods should stay rare and not being inplanted by some stupid NPC that some afk bot farmers just rob empty and drive the prices up like insanity. I mean during the green weekend I've been offered insane high prices for greenies I was giving away for free to fellow guildies or friends that didnt have access to that area or just couldn't get a drop.

I don't see that a lot anymore, I wonder what happend with all the 'nice' players... Because im thinkin im like the only one that still runs droknars for free when having a good day... We would just scam usselves with adding a NPC that sells perfect mods/weps.

However selling inscriptions for the new NF mod weapons only, I wouldn't mind that... just not the plain 'normal' upgrades, like +30 HP and all those weapon mods people should just farm. This could be difficult to add though

I am not a farmer. I don't think rune prices should be so low because elementalists (who generally depend on them as their weapons), for example get their superiors for super cheap, below what the street value should be (This is due to trader-added runes into the economy, and not player-added ones, screwing over honest players who have earned their runes.) Also, as a result, a lot of elementalists also run around with the same builds; it was more fun being unique in the BWEs.
This problem WAS NOT CAUSED by the trader, it was caused by the drop rate itself of particular runes, and the "usefullness" of the rune itself.

Try comming up with a build that uses one of the super cheap runes, make it popular, and you'll see that the demand (and price) for that particular rune will go up, since people will want to use that particular build.

There is a problem here. Gold has very low value due to inflation cuz its generated faster than its spent. So the items there whould reach sky-high prices as soon as they arrive and soon the trader whould be useless.

Ummm...did you read what you linked?

"It is considered a sub-category of massively multiplayer on-line role player games."

"the developers decided/preferred that their game did not fit the broader definition of MMORPG"

It's a specialized MMORPG that was designed to be different from other MMORPGs.

I definitely agree with the inscription trader. The traders in the game stabalize the prices according to actual gamewide demand for the item. I don't see the logic of how this trader would "ruin the game". Sure, you can stand in town and get all your items, but you can do that now! It just costs a lot more and takes a lot more time. Right now power sellers charge high prices because of perceived rareness of certain items. Most of the rareness of high demand inscriptions is actually finding someone willing to sell it!
With this obstacle removed, the prices will fall to real market values. There still will be money to be made there. Some of the rarer mods I'm sure will fetch 20-40k. And people will actually be able to buy some of the obscure "+20% damage vs XX" mods that are useful but hard to find sellers for.

This trader would still leave room for power sellers too. Tyrian and Canthan items are still uninscribable (wish this would change along with adding the trader, but who knows), so selling high end skins from those chapters is still good business.

I don't like the idea of the weapon trader though. You have to have something to go out and search for. Adding an inscription trader would turn the weapons economy into one of selling skins, which is not so bad and those are fun going out and searching for. Skins will be the new high end items, but not 100K + 100 ectoes type stuff. Remember, the trading limit was supposed to be 100k?

Having a trader for every item in the game is pointless. It defeats the purpose of having item or chest drops completely.

Even an inscription/upgrade trader would unbalance the game, and I'm not talking about farmers that sell rare items for outragous prices. If you play the game enough you can get virtualy every mod available.

There are very few mods that are not availible on a collector or a weapon crafter somewhere in one of the three campains. You can aquire a max damage weapon with good mods or open spaces for inscriptions, yes you still need to locate those upgrades to build the item but that is part of the RPG experiance.

Adventure and Explore and you will one day find what your seeking, and how much better will that acheivement feel having to work for it rather than just saving up cash and plunking it down like your in a shopping mall.....
